About Calvitium Scriptor

So, first and most obvious question is "what the heck does calvitium scriptor mean?"

It is Latin for "bald writer" which, well, is me. Why Latin? I guess because it's an ancient language, and I have an affinity for history and writing.

Yeah, we'll go with that

What will I be reading here?

As I said, I have an affinity for history. Specifically, I have a passion about Medieval Europe, Military History, U.S. Civil War History, Christian History (including the Crusades), and Viking History. Needless to say, that isn't all, but for the most part these will be the historical topics I will write about.

Close to history,  I love genealogical research. I have been working on my family history for years and have helped others in their searches to find out more about their ancestors. This also includes cemetery research (I have a side project at a local cemetery documenting all the Civil War veterans buried there). I will also be writing about these subjects.

Who am I?

So, a little about me. My name is Nick Burchett, I am married with three children (two grown, one still in school) and I currently live in Topeka, KS.  I am a US Army veteran and work full-time for the USDA as a Systems Analyst.

I have a B.A. in History from Columbia College, graduated cum laude and belong to the Alpha Sigma Lambda (Nu Lambda chapter) honor society.

My hobbies are motorcycles, performing music with my blues/jazz band "Still Vertical", reading and writing about history, genealogical research, and building cigar box guitars.
